About Yasuko Ishikawa
Born in 1958. After graduating from the German language section of the foreign language department of Dokkyo University, she went to live in Frankfurt (to take employment at the Akai Electronics Company). After resigning from the company to get married, she went to stay in Florence. After returning to Japan, she graduated from the German literature section of the humanities department of Tokyo Municipal University (present Tokyo Metropolitan University). She completed the Master’s Degree course of the German literature section of the humanities research department of the same university’s graduate school. She dropped out of the food and nutrition section of the agriculture research department of the graduate school of Tokyo Agricultural University. In 2009, she completed the doctor’s course in immunology of the medical research section of the graduate school of Juntendo University. She is president of the BeeBest Company, Inc. She holds a PhD in medicine. While involving herself in preventative medicine with functional foods and food immunology as her main theme, she is also enthusiastically active as a translator and writer. Beginning in 2011, she founded the “Vaglinano Award” for the purpose of lauding artists who serve as a bridge between Italy and Japan. Her published works include “Legendary Pianist Chieko Hara” (a KK bestseller); “Sumiko Mikimoto, Melody of Happiness” (her own company); joint translation of “Another Goethe” (Hoshei University Publishing Company); and “Bee Pollen for Alleviation of Allergenic Disorders” (Heart Publishers).
